A leading security company in Cirencester has gone green with the help of a new fleet of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

Sales staff at CIA Fire & Security Ltd, based in Love Lane Industrial Estate, are now using three new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVs. The 4×4 SUV has an all-electric range of 32.5 miles, that easily accommodates average daily driving distances and an efficient 2.0 litre petrol engine to deliver anxiety-free combined driving range in excess of 500 miles.

With members of the sales team having to drive all over the UK the company has not only gone for a more environmentally friendly approach but will also save money on fuel bills.

Colin Harrison, Managing Director of CIA, said: ‘We had a look at the Outlander PHEVs and we liked them on every level. They’re much better for the environment and they more economical to run. There’s also tax benefits for sales team who have them as company cars so they’re ideal for us as a business.

‘We’re very pleased with them. We want to make our entire fleet more green and this is the first step in that direction.’

Wayne Connolly, Sales Team Leader at Cirencester Mitsubishi, the dealership that supplied the vehicles, said: ‘The Outlander PHEV is the UK’s favourite plug-in vehicle and currently accounts for around half of all Plug-in Car Grant (PICG) applications and when you look at the numbers it’s easy to see why. CIA Fire and Security will save money on their fuel bills and on tax and the vehicles are more environmentally friendly.’

CIA was established in 1982 and has evolved from being a one man operation into a successful company with more than 80 members of staff.
